MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE CAMEROON BIOSCIENCE SOCIETY (CBS)
Welcome to the CBS website
The Cameroon Biosciences Society is a national branch of the International Biosciences Network created in 1989 under the aegis of UNESCO and the International Council of Scientific Unions. It is a place of exchange of ideas for researchers working in the biological, biochemical and molecular sciences. The major objectives of the CBS are to :
- Stimulate basic and applied research in biosciences;
- Organise scientific meetings (Conferences, Symposia, Colloquia, Seminars…) on a given theme;
- Establish and strengthen links between similar national and international scientific communities;
- Contribute to the influence of Cameroonian science through the creation and dissemination of a scientific journal: “Cameroon Journal of Biological and Biochemical Science, CamJournal”;
- Participate in the training and development of researchers;
- Serve as a consultative body to the government in areas of its competence.
Since its inception, the CBS has organised an annual conference whose topical theme offers researchers, economic and social partners the opportunity to discuss issues that directly affect the activity and development of our nation.
In recent years, we have discussed the major development issues that concern researchers in the biological sciences. I am referring to topics such as:
- Biosciences, Animal Production and Poverty Alleviation
- Biosciences and Medicinal Plants
- Biosciences and Industrial Development
- Biosciences and Genetically Modified Products
- Innovations in Bioscience, Climate Change and Food Security
- Etc….
The respect of the annual calendar of our conferences, coupled with the regular publication of scientific materials (Biosciences Proceedings, Cameroon Journal of Biological and Biochemical Sciences) is a proof of the dynamism and vitality of our community.
